Summary
Message from Chairman

As being specified in the Article of Incorporation, IMMM will engage in promotion of research and development for ultrasound-related medical and clinical procedures and non-destructive inspections, ultrasound-based diagnosis and treatment or quality control of ultrasound inspection equipment, as well as conference, seminar or lecture for the sake of disseminating the knowledge of ultrasound to the public including the establishment of “Ultrasound Museum” to preserve and exhibit historical materials, literatures and equipments, and to develop human resources for the future and educate them.
Musashi Microsonic Medical-physics will perform new and advanced researches related to ultrasound which will contribute to basic study, clinical study, quality control of inspection equipment, and development of the industries. It also will promote the study of “biological ultrasonic microscope using fiber” for performing the diagnosis of living tissues which is currently in progress.
As the purposes of this NPO, it will provide any people and researchers or users of ultrasound equipment with knowledge exchange and information of researches and developments of ultrasound medical equipment, activities to improve health preservation, health care and welfare for the sake of contributing to the public welfare, and also such activities as enlightenment and educating people on medical usage of ultrasound, suggestions on public health care and welfare, communication and collaboration with related organizations at home and abroad for the sake of ensuring the promotion of science and technology.
The “Ultrasound Museum” will exhibit researched, developments and applications in all fields using ultrasound. Ultrasound has being used in various organisms and also in the large-scale researches and practices of biological sciences such as zoology, entomology, agriculture and veterinary medicine, and animal husbandry. Application of ultrasound has being widened not only in the acoustic physics which had been developed after the tragic sinking of the huge passenger steamship 'Titanic' on April 15, 1912 but also in physics, engineering, signal processing, architecture, telecommunication, seabed exploration, geology, astrophysics and so on. It will be unlimited. It is also widely utilized in the traffic engineering such as aviation and high-speed railroad. Ultrasound is strongly anticipated to be used in the field of disaster prevention such as a measure against Tsunami damages caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011.
On the planet today, there are remarkable developments in communication and information technology, to which ultrasound is contributing. Numbers of discovery and knowledge in physical, chemical and engineering can be regarded as a great contributor, including those of “piezoelectric phenomenon” found by the French physicist brothers Jack Curie and Pierre Curie and the “Doppler effect” discovered by the Austrian physicist Christian Doppler. Usage and development of “crystal” and “ceramic” should not be ignored as a material to transmit these signals. The development of artificial crystal as an industry has helped Japan as the global leader. Without the artificial crystal, today’s progress of information and communication technologies could not be achieved.
Today, the development of human resources in science and technology is concerned as a problem in Japan. Children should be provided with a “venue” and “opportunity” to be exposed to science, physics, mathematics, chemistry and biology from their early age. It is necessary to establish the “Ultrasound Museum” as such “venue” and “opportunity”. We believe this “Ultrasound Museum” contributes surely as a place of education in order to develop human resources for the future in Japan.
With regard to medical aspect, it will show great contribution in the society as the result of ultrasound being used for examinations, diagnosis or treatments, and collect and exhibit literatures and equipments of numbers of historical research and development as well. Of course, it must record and introduce many pioneer contributors.
The “Ultrasound Museum” is convinced to contribute to the future of the world and also Japan. I would appreciate you all for your continued help and support to us.
